adhd Diagnosis & Assessment

General Information

We are currently accepting new referrals for online ADHD assessments children and adults.

Our wait times are between 1-4 weeks.

Our ADHD assessments have three elements:

  • The first step is an online pre-assessment form which takes about 45 minutes to complete.
  • This is followed by an online Telehealth appointment with your Fluence Clinic psychiatrist, which will be between 45-60 minutes.
  • If you attract a diagnosis of ADHD, the psychiatrist will discuss a comprehensive management plan and send a delegation letter to your GP in order for your GP to prescribe stimulant medication (where appropriate).

It would be imperative that you check with your GP prior to seeing the psychiatrist, that he or she will be happy to apply for a schedule 8 permit, and prescribe medication after receiving the delegation letter.

If your GP is hesitant to prescribe stimulants please contact us and we will signpost you in the right direction.

GP Referral & How To Book

If you would like to proceed and book an assessment with Fluence Clinic, we require a referral addressed to Fluence Clinic with a Medicare item code 291 specifically written on the referral.

The referral can also be an open referral if you already have one, however we can’t accept referrals addressed to other clinics.

The referral can be sent by you or your GP to [email protected]

How much does an ADHD Assessment cost?

The assessment is $1075, with a Medicare rebate of $427.75 available. This makes your out-of-pocket expenses $647.25. There are no surprise additional costs from us as part of this process.

After your GP sends the referral to [email protected], there’s no need to contact us – we’ll handle it from there.

We typically process referrals within three business days and will text you about the next steps once ready.

Benefits Of ADHD Testing

ADHD is one of the more treatable psychological concerns. Early detection and diagnosis can be highly beneficial for an adult who has undiagnosed ADHD.

An adult ADHD assessment can provide many benefits, including:

  • Receive an accurate diagnosis of ADHD;
  • You’ll gain a better understanding of ADHD symptoms and severity;
  • Identification of your personal strengths and weaknesses;
  • Customised treatment plans;
  • Access to resources and the right support;
  • Improved quality of life.

The most important benefit of an assessment for ADHD is to gain a greater understanding of one’s self.

Following diagnosis, many people learn that certain problems that they have always experienced can actually be managed and/or treated.
