Dr Alam is an Australian psychiatrist who attained 'Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery' (MBBS) from Dow University of Health Science, Karachi in 2002. Following his internship in medicine, he started his psychiatric training in UK as a senior house officer at Cefn Coed Hospital, Swansea. During this initial training, he participated and completed MRCPsych post graduate taught course from Cardiff Hospital, UK.
An interest in general adult psychiatry led him to embark on his psychiatry registrar training before travelling to Australia to complete his fellowship. While in Australia, he was part of Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Services. Dr Alam, later moved to Queensland where he successfully completed his advance training whilst working at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane.
Dr Alam started his specialist consultation from Tasmania. Upon his return to Brisbane, he accepted a clinical lead role at Metro North Queensland Health Services before Dr Alam deciding to devote himself in private practise.
Considering his keen interest in the field of research and teaching, Dr Alam was credited with an Associate Lecturer Position at University of Queensland. He has attended multiple courses to enhance his psychiatric skills including an observed distant education course on Human Cognitive Development from Harvard University, Cambridge USA.
