Dr Hughes is passionate about patient focused care and believes in a holistic, person-centred approach to mental health. She has undertaken extra training in psychoanalytic theory through the Australian Psychoanalytic Society.
Having grown up in rural QLD Dr Hughes is also an advocate for improved delivery of specialist services to rural and remote communities. She is a member of the RANZCP Psychotherapy Faculty and, the ADHD and Family Violence Network.
Dr Hughes completed her post-graduate medical studies at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, following an undergraduate degree with honours in Medical Engineering at Queensland University of Technology.
Her psychiatric training was undertaken on the Gold Coast in QLD and Northern New South Wales (Tweed Heads and Byron Bay Hospital).
