Professor Wai Chen (BM, MPhil(Camb), PhD, MRCP, DCH, MRCP, MRCPsych, FRANZCP) is a consultant psychiatrist with specialist expertise in child, adolescent and youth psychiatry, as well as developmental neuropsychiatry. He received his psychiatry training in the Maudsley Hospital and Institute of Psychiatry (London), and his education from Southampton Medical School, then Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, before completing his PhD at Kings College London. He has relocated to Australia since 2014.

He has over 30 years of clinical experience, and authored multiple books, including a chapter ('Child and adolescent neuropsychiatry') in the 'Oxford Textbook of Neuropsychiatry'. He has over 100 research publications, attracting over 9,200 citations; and he served as an external reviewer for the DSM-5 Clinical and Public Health Committee (CPHC) during the DSM-5 revision. He also has expertise in Gaming Disorder and Internet/Digital Addiction.
