Dr Bernard Chivaurah is a Specialist Psychiatrist with experience across a range of inpatient and outpatient settings both within Australia and overseas. He has an interest in general adult mental health problems, alcohol and other addiction disorders, medicolegal assessments and driving assessments.

Dr Chivaurah currently consults both in the private sector including the provision of telehealth and in the public sector at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney where he specialises in inpatient and outpatient mental health issues. He works with individuals to improve both their physical and mental well-being.

Utilising his medical background he provides pharmacotherapy, in conjunction with providing both individual and group therapy harnessing the principles of motivational enhancement therapy, psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioural therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy.

Dr Chivaurah is also available upon referral to provide driving, medicolegal and permanent impairment assessments when required. He is able to inform individualised treatment plans focusing on improving client outcomes.

Dr Chivaurah is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), holds a Masters degree of Medicine in Advanced Psychiatry from the University of Sydney, is certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME) and the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA), is a winner of the Best scholarship and has published research.

He holds a RANZCP certificate in addiction psychiatry in addition to qualifications obtained in England and Zimbabwe.
